CFB Mourns the Loss of Former Board Member Courtney Hall

05/05/2021

The Board is deeply saddened at the passing last week of Courtney Hall, an extraordinary civic leader, businessman, and colleague. Mr. Hall earned a law degree and an MBA from the University of Chicago. He later co-founded and was managing director of Hillcrest Venture Partners. Mr. Hall served on the Board of Trustees for the Randall’s Island Park Alliance for many years. Mr. Hall was a standout center in football at Rice University and for the NFL’s San Diego Chargers which he captained to the Super Bowl in 1995. He was appointed to the Campaign Finance Board in 2010 by Mayor Michael Bloomberg and served until 2016.

Mr. Hall was a valued colleague who was always kind, considerate, and humble. We will miss him dearly.

Board Member Richard Davis, who served with Mr. Hall on both the Campaign Finance Board and the Randall’s Island Park Alliance Board of Trustees, said, "Courtney was not only a man of extraordinary talent, but he used those talents to make our City a better place for everyone."
