Voter Guide for City Council District 45 is Now Available

05/01/2019

NYC Votes announces the release of the official Voter Guide for the special election in City Council District 45 on Tuesday, May 14. New Yorkers may visit Voting.NYC and click "Read the Voter Guide" for information about the candidates on the ballot and how to vote.

The Voter Guide includes profiles for each of the candidates who submitted materials, including their top three issues, a video statement, and other information about their experience in professional and public life. In addition to providing nonpartisan info about the candidates, the Voter Guide allows New Yorkers to look up their poll sites, read news articles about the special election, and learn about their voting rights and deadlines.

Polls will be open on Election Day, May 14, from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. In order to cast a ballot, New Yorkers need to be registered to vote by the deadline on May 4 (in-person registration deadline).

The CFB creates an online guide for every city election, which lists all candidates who were expected to be on the ballot at the time of publication. The profile information and photos are submitted by the candidates, all of whom have affirmed that the information provided is true to the best of their knowledge. Candidates without profile information or photos did not respond to multiple requests to participate.

NYC Votes is the nonpartisan voter engagement initiative of the New York City Campaign Finance Board (CFB) and its Voter Assistance Advisory Committee (VAAC). In addition to promoting voter registration, participation, and civic engagement in New York City through its many programs and partnerships, NYC Votes sponsors the city’s official Debate Program and produces the citywide Voter Guide.
