My name is Costa Constantinides. We currently face the greatest challenge of our lifetime and we need a plan to get through this. I will transform the Borough President’s office to meet the needs of Queens today and be prepared for our future.

My top priority is the health and safety of Queens residents. Unfortunately, hospitals across Queens have closed because greedy real estate developers were more interested in building luxury condos than keeping life-saving hospital beds available for our residents. The coronavirus hit us so hard because we don’t have those hospital beds and because dirty air, mostly in black and brown communities, makes us more likely to get sick. This is unacceptable. That is why I will build new hospitals and fight to clean our air.

We know that the future may bring something worse. Last summer was the hottest ever. And storms like hurricane Sandy — which devastated the Rockaways, Howard Beach, and Long Island City — may become the new normal.

We need a plan to get Queens residents back to work, provide access to healthcare, and combat the injustices exposed by this crisis. That’s why I’m running to be your next Queens Borough President.

Everyone deserves to live without the fear of rising seas or rising rents. We need to confront both the affordability and the climate crisis. We need to transform our neighborhoods to survive and thrive.

I have a plan to build new hospitals, create 50-thousand green jobs, and improve mass transit. I am prepared and ready to lead this fight. And I know that together, we can show the world Queens is the best place on Earth.

I hope you will join me on June 23rd in voting for our future. Thank you.

Candidate Statement

I am running because Queens needs a plan to get through this crisis and address the longstanding challenges it exposed. My vision will get Queens back to work, build needed hospitals, and improve our air quality.

We have the ability to transform Queens to be prepared for our future. I’m committed to only approving projects on City land that are 100% affordable, with sustainability and union labor components. We will invest $70 million to priorities like closing classroom trailers and building affordable housing for seniors. As the leader of 2.3 million people, the Borough President should have a seat on the MTA board, reform the Community Board appointment process, and create an Office of Diversity & Outreach.
